Diversification in the health sector

Gecina wished  to diversify its real estate asset base by acquiring new classes of assets, particularly in the health sector, this growth context due to the gradual aging of the European population.

In 2006, Gecina acquired a portfolio of 28 clinics operated by Générale de Santé, a French leader in private hospitals. This €536 million investment was carried out by the intermediary of a structure dedicated to this segment of activity, namely Gecimed.

Gecimed : the first property management company dedicated exclusively to medical real estate.

Gecimed has as its mission to develop a real estate asset base of healthcare (clinics, hospitals) and medico-social establishments (Etablissements d'Hébergement pour Personnes Agées Dépendantes - EHPAD -, Résidences pour Personnes Agées - housing establishments for dependent elderly persons, residences for the elderly).

Gecimed is a very light structure with no personnel. Gecina's teams handle its property, legal and financial management, as well as acquisition operations.
